VR Awards 2018
Highlights, media and extras from 2018
The VR Awards 2018 began the night in true black tie fashion. As over 300 international delegates arrived for the evening’s events, guests were greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne and given the opportunity to network before the official opening speeches.
We asked our sponsors, partners and nominees to define what it means to be a pioneer. Their answers were inspiring; they echoed a message of inclusivity across the whole of the industry. We are all pioneers, shaping and transforming the future of immersive technology.
In 2018, the VR Awards showcased the power VR has to remove borders and bring the world to your doorstep. Exploring the rich and diverse history of African culture, the VR Awards transported attendees on a journey through Africa’s most iconic landmarks, regions and places of interest with the ingenuity and power of Google Earth VR.
Working with One-Drum founder, Abass Dodoo, originally born in the Ghanaian town of Nsawam, the VR Awards recreated the accurate and distinct musical stylings of each region Africa has to offer.
One-Drum exemplified the connection between the diversity of African culture and the modern digital age of VR.
Phil Wang, our official 2018 presenter, kicked off the ceremony with an exclusive comedy set, which set the tone for a great evening to come.
